895. A Keramis Vase Designed By Charles Catteau

A Keramis glazed ceramic vase designed by Charles Catteau, measuring approx. 12-3/8"H x 8" in diameter at the widest point, with stylized vividly colored designs on the outside depicting four deer with geometric patterns above and below. The background is glazed in a crackle pattern ivory color and the deer and other patterns are glazed in a rich royal blue, turquoise, light blue and black. The glazes are applied so as to represent a low relief and a handmade texture. Bottom stamped and impressed "909".

Charles Catteau was the artistic director at the Belgian company Boch Freres begining in 1907. This design was one of his most striking Art Deco style pieces.
