613. A Fancy Silver Plate Ice Water Server

A fancy ice water server in silver plate made by Simpson, Hall, Miller & Co., ca. 19th C. The coffee pot shaped vessel with a porcelain insulator insert, hinged lid measuring approx. 14"H x 6" in diameter suspends from an arched frame on a pierce-worked base, overall approx. 23"H. The pot is embellished with relief designs in a late-Victorian/Aesthetic Movement manner with applied birds on the handles and sea creatures and dragon flies on the sides. The armature from which the pot is suspended has similar embellishments with birds and Aesthetic Movement designs. The front of the lid of the pot, has an inscription "Presented to Mr. & Mrs. J. Schneider by Employees of Buckeye Company April 4th." There are two platforms on the base which once held crystal glasses.
