890. An Extensive Porcelain Figural Group

An extensive porcelain figural group, with two figures playing stringed instruments, a lady dancing, and a man and a woman as audience. The grouping sits on it's own porcelain base, the sides decorated with gilt detailed relief, the floor decorated with tiles and a vividly colored area rug. The figures are all in fancy costumes hand glazed in colors and gilt. There is a piece of furniture at the back of the grouping to which an ornately framed mirror is attached by two bolts. The maker's insignia is in cobalt blue underglaze on the tile floor and is somewhat blurred, but is possibly that of Volkstedt. Overall the grouping measures approx. 21"W x 14-3/4"D x 13-1/2"H.
