A George Nelson design student desk, ca. 1950's, in blond oak and tubular metal base, measuring approx. 24" x 40" x 29-3/4"H with an 18-1/4" x 24" wood hinged extension at one side, with three drawers with metal pulls. George Nelson (1908-1986) was one of the most powerful forces behind the development of this century's American design aesthetic. Some of George Neslons best known pieces are the 1950 "Ball Clock," inspired by representations of the atom, the 1952 fiberglass "Bubble Lamp" and the 1965 "Marshmallow" sofa. 400/600 Sold $161.00 back to catalog |
