| 691. A Silver Plated Fancy Casket
A silver plate over copper fancy casket, measuring approx. 6"W x 4-3/4"D x 4"H, with deeply cast scenes in relief on the top and sides surrounded by a dentil pattern border. The top depicts three people with a lion surrounded by an oval border with flowers and two hunting dogs' profiles outside; the title on the ribbon below reads "Le Lion Amoureux" (the lion in love) referring to the lady seated on his back. The initials "CALI" are impressed in the border. The sides depict groups of children at play; Blind Man's Bluff and Marbles, repeated front and back and side to side. The initials "CALI" are impressed at the right and "LT" at the left. The casket sits up on four scrolling feet and is lined with aromatic wood as a humidor. The initials "LT" and "CALI" are stamped in the ground on the right side panel. 400/600 Sold $264.50 back to catalog |
