The letter reads, " I called to see you tonight but found you so sound asleep I thought it best not to awaken you. Wishing to inform you how much I love you, for I love all good little girls, I send you this note with best wishes of your true friend." signed, Santa Claus and dated Christmas Eve 1850. With post script, "I live away off beyond the North Pole where it is so cold I never dare to blow my nose for fear I shall blow it off." Initialed S.C.
