1264. An Antique Thread Cabinet
An antique thread cabinet with a single drawer in the lower portion and with tambour doors in the upper portion, which once contained two trays for spools of thread. The cabinet is made of walnut, and the tambour doors are lined with a linen fabric. There is a partial hand-written note on the back of the piece intended to record provenance, and with a date of 1879 legible. The drawer of the cabinet contains an article from The Cleveland Press, Saturday, March 8, 1975 describing a similar piece and with a history of spooled thread by Ralph & Terry Kovel; itself a unique artifact. The cabinet measures approx. 8-3/4"W x 4-3/4"D x 11-1/2"H.

A miniature what not cabinet, made to hand on a wall, in walnut wood with curved glass side panels, glass door, and antiqued mirror backing. The cabinet has two ball feet in the front only (not on the back), and there is a pediment applied to the top with three turned finials. It has two wooden shelves in the interior, ca. 1910. The measurements are approx. 26"H x 19-1/2"W x 6"D.

1268. A Vintage Native American Navajo Doll
A vintage Native American doll, with the body of hand carved wood and with movable wood arms, the eyes and hair painted on in black, wearing a homespun fabric dress and four rows of beads for a necklace. The dress is partially machine stitched and hand sewn, of homespun fabrics and quilt scraps; two places are held together by tiny gold safety pins. The style of the dress is probably Navajo. The doll measures approx. 12" H and stands on it's own.

A charming weathervane ornament, constructed from painted metal pieces, hand cut and assembled, depicting a girl in a long dress and a bonnet sprinkling a young plant with a watering can, standing atop an arrow. Overall the piece measures approx. 14" x 18-1/2". Aged layers of green, red and cream pigment cover the surface along with rust.

1272. A Chic Collection of Ladies' Smoking Accessories
A perfect lot for the lady who's doctor told her to stay away from cigarettes, this collection of ten decorative cigarette holders and three ladies' smoking pipes has a rare sort of cache for the collector. The lot consists of a 10" long unmarked sterling silver holder with a black tip, some tarnish and damage, in it's original (but damaged) cardboard box, a 12" long bakelite holder with a tortoise color mouthpiece and black plastic holder, encircled in two places with channel set rhinestones and with inset rhinestones at the end, an 11-1/2" gold-tone metal telescoping holder with a black mouthpiece and set with clear and pale blue rhinestones, a carved bone 7-5/8" holder with incised details with polychrome colors and "Souvenir of Havana" printed on the stem (soils on mouthpiece area), a 6"L carved ivory holder with the image of an oriental dragon wound around, a 6-1/2" black holder with a gold tone band and with the end encrusted with rhinestones (some reglued and silvering damaged) (bite marks on mouthpiece), a 5-3/4"L sterling silver holder marked "Taxco 980", with incised and applied decorations, a 7"L gold tone holder with a black mouthpiece, and studded with cobalt blue and clear rhinestones, a 7-1/2" gold tone holder with a black mouthpiece, wound around with clear rhinestones, and another 7-1/2" holder embellished with rhinestones and rectangles of mother of pearl. The three ladies' pipes include a pipe with a hand decorated Delft ceramic bowl, a sterling silver collar and a black stem, 7-7/8"L marked "Holland" in the underglaze and "Royal Goedewaagen" on the sterling collar, a 6"L pipe with a burlwood bowl decorated with gold tone daisies with rhinestones and a black stem, and finally a silver tone metal telescoping pipe with a small bowl and a black mouthpiece, in it's own blue suede case (soiled), that extends to 24"L.

The box is in the shape of a paisley, with a removable lid surmounted with the same shape handle accented with an agate insert. The interior is lined with raspberry felt, and the bottom is stamped "Pewter Crafters of Cape Cod" and inscribed with the limited edition number 12/90, and artist's initials "RK" for Ron Kusins.
