1181. A Russian Feodoskino Lacquer Box
A beautiful papier mache box painted with a portrait medallion over over the green faux marble ground accented with gilt outline decorations. The box has a hinged lid and rests on four foot slightly raised base. Inside of the lid signed "Fedoskino, Isp. Hasanova M." Overall measures approx. 1-3/4"T x 3-1/4"W x 4-1/4"L.

1182. Russian Mstyora Laquer Box, ca. 1950's
A traditional Mstera black lacquer box with a vermillion red interior, and a hinged lid decorated with an oval hand-painted medallion featuring a scene from "The Tale of Tsar Saltan," a fairy tale by Russian poet Alexander Pushkin. The painting is highlighted with an intricate gilt band around it, and is initialed "S.P" by the artist. Measures approx. 2"T x 5"W x 7"L.

1183. A Diminutive Antique Marquetry Cabinet
An antique elaborately hand made cabinet for storing valuables, measuring approx. 15-1/2"H plus the 2"H ornament at the top x 13"W x 8"D. The front, sides, and interior surfaces are all clad in beautifully grained wood veneers with elegant marquetry details. The front of the chest is serpentine and has two doors of conforming shape, with a working lock and key on the right hand door and interior bolts on the left door. The interior contains four full-width drawers and six small drawers surrounding an open compartment with one shelf covered in a decorative paper. All the drawers have matching antique brass knobs. Each drawer front is decorated with marquetry scrolls around the knobs. Especially charming are the marquetry figures of the man holding a bouquet on the left door face and the shepherdess holding a flower on the right door. Above the figures are marquetry rococo scrolls, coordinating with the scrolls inset in the panels of the side.

1185. Regency Tortoise Shell Tea Caddy, ca. Early 19th Century
A very unusual shell shaped tea caddy, the exterior laminated with blond tortoise shell panels, and enhanced by ivory and silver elements. The hinged lid is lined with red cloth on the underside. A removable interior lid has an ivory knob and is octagonal in shape. The interior of the caddy is lined with foil, with losses, and the underside is covered with a shagreen-textured paper with losses. The tea caddy rests on four ball feet. A silver medallion on top of the caddy bears no monogram; the front with a silver scalloped escutcheon, lacking the key. Overall it measures approx. 3-1/4"T x 4-1/2"W x 2-3/4"L.

1186. English Mahogany Tea Caddy, ca. 19th Century
The overall tapered form of the tea caddy features a hinged lid with beveled sides and a single ivory plaque, resting on brass bun feet. The interior with yet another hinged lid with a small ivory knop, covering two compartments. The exterior is missing the original escutcheon. Overall it measures approx. 6"T x 11½"L x 8¼"W.

1187. An Antique Traveling Desk
An antique English traveling lap desk on a modern wood stand, mahogany and rosewood veneer, brass and leather insets, overall 21"W x 11"D x 23"H. The pretty wood of the outer case is rosewood veneered with brass banding, hinges, handles, lock escutcheon with patent, and a brass plate etched with the name "S.K. Traim" on the lid. The interior has a tooled leather writing surface. The back of the interior has a pen tray, open and lidded compartments (the open compartments once contained an ink container and a powder container. The back portion conceals a hidden compartment, which accesses with a spring lock inside of which are three small drawers with blue fabric tabs. The underside of the box has been covered with a green wool felt fabric.

1188. An Antique "Concerta" Ideal Sublime Cylinder Musical Box, Jacot Music Box Co.
An antique "Concerta" Ideal Sublime musical box, in a pretty hinged-lid cabinet, with ebonized finish and wood inlay detailing, measuring approx. 16"D x 31"W x 11"H, ca. 1840. The box is doweled to a removable platform and has dark metal decorative handles at either end for transporting. It has two diamond-shaped bone escutcheons, one cracked. The hinged lid reveals a glass panel with a leather pull covering the interior works and cylinders, with decorative metalwork and with several patents and other information stamped into the metal pieces. A shield-shaped lever reads "Jacot's Patented Safety Check Sept 22, 1886", and a metal plaque nearby reads "Concerta...Patented...April 10, 1883...September 22, 1885...December 6, 1887..." " 1887...Mai 8, 1888, with a shield shaped logo below dated 1816, and the numbers DRP 33516, 37261,43585, 43884 below. There is a book that accompanies the piece in which pretty chromolithograph cards can be inserted on which is hand-written the names of the songs. In a compartment at the left side of the works chamber are a small tin with an extra gear and a winding handle. There is also a locking drawer below the works that contains three other cylinders. Each cylinder is 11" long.

A very unusual designed burlwood veneered tea caddy, with a domed hinged lid and elaborate brass overlay decorations throughout. The interior features two tea compartments covered with removable lids and lined with foil. A key is included with this piece, but does not appear to be original. Overall the piece measures approx. 5"T x 8-1/4"L x 5"W.

1191. A Gilt Bronze & Alabaster Mantle Clock, ca. late 19th Century
A gilt bronze seated female holding a caduceus on alabaster plinth, with a marble base with chain accents and ball feet. The clock is fashioned after a drum, with a white enameled dial and black painted Roman numerals. The works are numbered but no other stamps were found. The bronze figure is stamped "PH.MOUREY". The clock measures approx. 11" x 11" x 5".

1192. A Japy Freres Mantle Clock & Garniture Set, French ca. late 19th Century
A white marble French clock with gilt bronze mounts and decoration, with a porcelain dial with painted Roman numerals and Arabic seconds. The decorative urn shape of bronze rests atop the timepiece. Fern frond scrolls adorn the sides, and it is raised on adjustable feet and displayed on painted and gilt wood base. The movement within the clock is stamped with the name "Japy Freres & Co." Accompanying the clock are two decorative candelabras, fitted for five candles each. The candelabras are decorated in the same style as the clock with bronze ormolu. The clock without the wood base measures approx. 12-1/2"T x 10"W x 4"D. Each candelabra measures approx. 18"T.

1194. A 19th Century French Brass Powder Box
A 19th Century French brass power box, with a gilt finish, the top fitted with traditional designs in a deep relief and with a circular inset with a painting of Madame de Lambale (1749-1792), Marie Antoinette's great friend, who was killed in the September Massacres in Paris. The miniature painting depicts a beautiful young woman with a powdered wig and a richly flowered hat, measuring 1-1/2" in diameter and covered by glass. The underside of the painting has a hand written ink inscription, partially legible, with Mme. Lambale's name. The sides of the container are also in a rich relief pattern of swagged ribbons and flowers. The box measures approx. 3-1/4" in diameter x 1-1/2"H and has "France" stamped in the underside. A silk insert has been made for the interior, also in a floral design woven material.

1196. A Superb French Gilt Bronze and Crystal Chandelier
A French gilt bronze and crystal chandelier, with six deeply scrolling arms with flowing leaves branching out of a body that is in the shape of a tapering basket. The armature of the basket is made in silver plated metal. The basket is suspended from three tubular knotted ribbons, and there are ribbon, bow and leaf embellishments at the top and the cap. Wired for electricity, the fixture measures approx. 21" in diameter x 29"H plus the cap. There is no lengthening chain. There are six clip-on gathered silk shades, discolored and worn.

1197. A Pair of Floor Torchieres
A pair of wrought and cast metal (probably bronze) torchieres, ca. 1920's, with a cast and pierced circular metal base, a tall turned ornamental column accented at the the neck with four cast metal griffins, atop which is a cast and pierced metal lantern with sheets of honey color frosted glass behind. The torchieres are electrified, and switched with a pull-chain. They measure approx. 68-1/2" to the top of the finial.

Turned wood Tazzas of varying woods, styles and sizes. The largest measures approx. 8"T x 10"D and has a bowl a on pedestal base. The medium Tazza is a bowl with painted glass ball decorations, raised on a round base with three legs and ball feet, which are polychromed, approx. 6-1/2" x 8-1/2". The small tazza is simple yet elegant, measuring approx. 5-1/4" x 7-1/2".

1199. A Beautiful Antique Ladies' Fan in a Fan Shadowbox Frame
An exquisite 19th Century ladies fan, framed in a bronze-gilt fan case under glass, with a blue velvet backing, the fan tacked to the backing in several places. The fan is hand painted on black silk, with the frame of shaped mother of pearl sticks. The hand painted decorations include a lovely miss in a small landscape with six doves to the left, framed by indications of other foliage delicately drawn, and an extremely fine scrolling set of initials to the right. The fan measures 17"W x 8-3/4"H, and the shadow box frame measures overall 11-1/2" x 20" x 2"D.

1200. A Marvelous Antique Ladies' Fan in a Fan Shadowbox Frame
An antique ladies' fan framed in a bronze-gilt shadowbox fan frame, on a blue velvet backgroud and under glass. The fan is constructed of mother of pearl shaped sticks of varying lengths. Each stick is carved with rococo designs with gilt accenting, and has numerous dots of silver metal, possibly marcasite, inlaid throughout the design. The silk portion of the fan is hand painted with multicolor garlands of flowers, and each panel above the shorter sticks has a cartouche. Four of the cartouches are open ovals with a mesh inside and embroidered with love's arrows in silver and gold tone metal sequins, surrounded by sequined borders and with a ribbon and bow at the top. Two of the cartouches are indented corner rectangles surrounded in silver and gold sequins with a tiny flowering landscape painted inside. The other two panels in the center are of similar rectangular borders with a fine lady in pink in one facing a gentleman suitor in the other. A very romantic and beautiful fan, measuring 14-1/2"W x 7-3/4"H, and with the framing overall 17-1/4" x 10-1/4" x 2"D.

A antique hand painted ladies' fan, in a sheer black silk surrounded by black lace, on sticks that are clear tortoise on the lower portion and pierced carved black painted wood on the portion behind the silk. An elegant pair of framed biscuit porcelain relief silhouettes, each measuring approx. 3" in diameter, framed with a brass rim and a black velvet clad frame under a 3-1/8" convex glass. The frames measure approx. 7-1/4" x 6-1/2" overall and are backed with a dark green silk. Each has a bale at the top for hanging and one only has a small ring on the bale. Each portrait has "J. Peyre F...Nieuwerkerke Dir" (Jules Constant Peyre) lightly impressed below on the front of the porcelain. The portraits represent Emperor Napoleon III (1808-1873)and Empress Eugenie (1826-1920).
