The second vase is of squared upward tapering shape, mouth with slightly raised corners, designed with yellow high gloss flowers over graduatd matte blue ground; base, mouth and all the designs highlighted in gilt, base of the vase stamped with a the mark as the accompanying piece; measures approx. 12-1/2"T.

371. A Royal Bayreuth Vase
A very decorative Royal Bayreuth vase, measuring approx. 7-1/2"H x 4" in diameter at the widest point, with polychrome and gilt decorations. There is a cobalt blue underglaze at the shoulder and a band around the middle, embellished with transfer printed gilt foliate designs. Between the two areas of cobalt is a band of clear glaze on which is a transfer print of yellow, red, white and pink roses and buds. The lower portion is entirely in a gilt finish inscribed with Fin de Siecle designs. There is an oval cartouche on one side of a transfer printed beautiful young lady carrying a muff, encircled in a wreath of gilt design. The vase is marked on it's underside.

372. An Ackermann & Fritze Miniature Vase with a Portrait Medallion by Wagner, German, after 1905
This wonderful little piece is of cylinder shape with a tiny flared mouth; the vase features a portrait medallion depicting a young lady holding a violin in her right hand and a note sheet in her right, she is probably rehearsing a piece by Max Reger "Abendlied", as it is also the title of this vase; portrait is signed "Wagner," a fine and very prolific miniature and porcelain painting German artist of the late 19th early 20th centuries. Overall body is in lustre glaze which changes from pale blue at the top to dark navy color on the bottom; tall dandelions and other Art Nouveau inspired floral decorations in raised gilt add richness to this delightful piece. Base bears a blue underglaze 'beehive' mark, hand-written mark "Dec:#186/ Depase?/ Abendlied/ 4083." Overall measures approx. 5"T x 2"W.

The glaze is a mottled rough textured toffee glaze. Lachenal was an important French ceramicist of the Art Deco period, establishing his own studio in Boulogne-sur-Seine near Paris in 1911. This vase is a bulbous form with a distinctive rim and base is encapsulated with thin silver foil. The underside is inscribed and signed. Approx. 12-1/4"T.

An Austrian pottery wall mask, in the manner of Vally Wieselthier (1845-1945) with hand painted decorative glazes in colors, somewhat translucent in parts. The face is of an amusingly stylized girl in a blue hat, with applied coils of orange curls at the left and a teal color ribbon at the right. The mask is hollow, and the eyes are open. The hand painted decorations are charmingly done, with bright rosy red cheeks and smeered lipstick. There is a paper label with "535" in pencil on the bottom edge.
