This is a gorgeous example of De Scott Evan's capabilities; the rendering of the sheen of the fabrics, the beautiful model, and the narrative suggested in the composition all combined in an exceptional work. Oil on canvas on board, framed in a pretty multiple period frame with a sand finished gilt liner, a wood liner with floral details inscribed and a cast ornament gilt liner with an oakleaf and acorn motif. The painting measures 8" x 10", and with the frame overall 15" x 17". The back is stamped with framing information from a Coral Gables, Florida framer. There are inscriptions on the verso of the board by the artist and by the purchaser gifting it to her sister in 1913.
