151. Master I.Z., after Albrecht Dürer (German, 1471-1528)
"The Circumcision". Woodcut on paper, created ca. 1505, with the artist monogram in the lower right and the artist's initials in the lower center margin, the image measuring approx. 11-1/2" x 8-1/4", and overall with the mat and frame approx. 18-1/2" x 15 . The image comes from Dürer's series, the Life of Mary as one of her seven sorrows. Note the cloaked figure of Mary standing off to the right and the infant Christ at the center of the composition.

152. Albrecht Dürer (German, 1471-1528), The Revelation of St John: 15. The Angel with the Key to the Bottomless Pit, ca.1497-98.
Original woodcut from the Large Passion; The Apocalypse, which is considered to be one of Dürer's greatest printmaking achievements of 15 woodcuts on the Revelations of St. John, this being the last sheet. Trimmed edges, image approx. 15-3/8" x 11" (38.1 cm x 27.94cm). Backed loosely with white paper and tacked down at the margins, floated on cream silk mat with gold liner, in a black wood frame, overall approx. 23" x 18-3/4".

"Los Caprichos: De Que Mal Morira?" Plate 40, 1799/l.p. Etching, 5th edition of 12, published by Calcografia for Real Academia 1881-1886. On cream colored laid paper with no visible watermark. The impression was made before the steel facing of the plate. Approx. 8-1/4" x 6-1/2" plate mark, (image approx. 18.8 x 12.4cm). Overall the paper measures approx. 11" x 7-3/4". Framed in an archival mat, overall approx. 16-1/2" x 14".

A set of four exquisite miniature drawings in ink on paper, not signed, each image size approx. 3-1/4" x 5-1/2", paper size approx. 5-5/8" x 7-7/8", and with the gilt frames, each measures 7-3/8" x 9-1/2". Each drawing is a meticulously penned image of a country landscape on the shores of a body of water with ships in the distance. On the shore are stone buildings and figures and animals.

159. Unknown Artist: A Pair of Early 19th Century Framed Watercolors
A beautiful pair of early 19th Century paintings in watercolor and gouache, mounted onto paper borders that emulate French matting with a blank nameplate area faux-painted at the lower margin, framed in "provincial corner" frames with incised decorations and corner ornaments in a gilt finish under glass. The paintings are most likely maquettes for interior murals to be inset into panel moldings. The images depict classical ruins in landscapes with several figures in each, measuring 9-5/8" x 7-3/4". The sight size including the borders measures 2-1/4" x 10-1/2", and the frames overall measure 15-1/2" x 13-3/4". There is an old calling card taped to the back of one of them from McCutcheon's Antiques in Ligonier, PA stating that they are ca. 1810.
