1113. An Elaborate Barrel Chair, ca. 17th/18th Century
A spade shaped barrel chair, raised on a pedestal base with four splayed legs terminating in scroll feet, joined with scrolled stretchers. The seat is covered with embossed leather with a flower and leaf pattern overall; the seat was hinged with leather straps, now worn through and separated. Brass nailheads surround the leather, and the carved portions are overall painted in blue with gilt ornamentation and floral sprigs. The back of the seat has a figural cartouche (Venetian) with a standing lion wearing a crown. It measures approx. 38"T x 35-1/2"W x 18"D.

1114. A Superb Pair of English Regency Pole Screens
A superb pair of English Regency pole screens, each approx. 67"H with a central shaft surmounted by an urn shape, supported by a tripod base and with another urn shape turned just above the base and painted with brown leaves over the gilt finish, with the legs spanned below by a circular shape (one wood and one metal). The wood surfaces are finished in a dark brown faux wood glaze with gilt striping over all. There are octagonal frames suspended on each shaft from a rope pulley that goes through the shaft and terminates below in a very large wooly tassel for moving the frames up and down. The frames have silk sces and floral designs, beautifully embroidered, and fit in the frames behind reverse painted black lacquer and gilt borders. The frames measure 15" x 15". Some of the lacquer is delaminating a bit.

1115. A Marvelous English Piecrust Table
An English walnut piecrust top tripod table with a satiny finish on the shaped top measuring approx. 21-1/2" in diameter. The unusual carved and pierced pedestal has an interior stem reminiscent of a palm tree, caged by a pierced Chippendale style fretwork, with a spreading gadrooned crown at the top, supported by three legs that are carved with cartouches and foliate patterns, with claw and ball bird feet, and with a spill of shapes between the legs that resemble the tree's roots. The table measures approx. 30-1/2"H. The underside center of the tripod base is supported by a hand-wrought metal brace. The rectangular wood piece screwed to support the top has a good deal of worming. The top does not have a tilt mechanism.

1116. A Pair of Dutch Chairs With Ivory Inlay, ca. 18th/19th Century
A pair of Dutch straight back chairs with elaborate ivory inlay decorations, measuring approx. 18"W x 17"D x 45-1/2"H. These unusual chairs feature a turned and carved variation of a block and spindle, a gracefully carved "H; shaped stretcher, flat seat with geometric ivory inlay and four mother of pearl discs inset, with the apron also decorated with ivory inlay, the front in a beautiful pierced foliate design with classical faces at the center. The back rails are block and spindle, with a carved splat with intricately worked ivory inlay, with a beautiful woman standing in the center of an architectural arch, with a face etched at the keystone, and with each siderail inset in three places in ivory, four with rosettes and two with classical winged figures. The matching chair has the image of a cavalier in the center of the arch. The ivory inlay is etched with designs with a dark pigment in the lines besides the silhouetted cut-outs. The carved wood portion of the chairs is in an ebony tone stain.

1117. A Striking Art Deco Dining Set
A striking Art Deco dining set including a table with one leaf and four chairs, all matching, in the style of the British makers, the Epstein brothers, and similar to their ;Cloud" furniture designs. The dining table is situated on two pedestal bases and the top echos the "cloud" shape. The table is veneered with beautifully mottled sections of burlwood veneer. The base measures approx. 59-1/2" x 30-3/4" without the removable top and leaf. The top itself has two end pieces, each measuring approx. 37" x 41" x 1-3/4"D, with a 4-1/2" veneered apron. The leaf measures approx. 23-3/4" x 41". There are some losses to the veneer and other scars on the wood. The four chairs also coordinate in the "cloud" style, with barrel outside backs in beautifully bookmatched burlwood veneers, slightly splayed plain legs, the interiors of the seats and backs are covered in a taupe color leather, with significant damage from use and age. There is a brass "piping" surrounding the outside edge of the backs, some of which is loose and all is oxidized from age. There are natural fissures in the burlwood in over the table top, along with chips, scuffs and scars from use.

1118. An Elegant Art Deco Buffet
The burlwood veneered buffet measures 70-1/2"W x 25"D x 36"H, and has hinged doors at either end with two shelves inside, and two hinged doors in the center covering a set of four drawers with campaign-style brass hardware. The interior is a warm glossy mahogany. The original hardware was removed from the doors and the holes filled, now just below the current hardware. The current hardware has a French style, with locks (lacking a key) and is at the tops of the original locations. There are letters stamped into the wood in each door at the place which would have been covered by the original back plate. The stylishly scalloped form is clad on top and sides in a rich ribbony burled wood veneer. Underneath each of the door hardware is stamped some illegible letters, some of them backward. One of these appears to read "JECO". Matches the previous lot.

1119. A Beautiful Papier Mache Tray with Table Base
A beautiful papier mache tray with a custom made table base. The black lacquered tray has a scalloped edge and measures 25"W x 19-1/2"D x 1-3/4"H, the interior decorated with mother of pearl inlay of butterflies and flowers surrounded by gilt foliate designs. The separate base is made to conform to the bottom of the tray and has four splayed faux-bamboo turned legs braced by turned crossed stretchers. The base is painted in a soft black with gilt trim at the knuckles. Overall the table stands 20-1/2"H.

1120. Another Antique Papier Mache Tray Table, Chinese Lacquer Top, ca. 18th Century
An antique papier mache tray made into a low table by adding a newer base with four turned legs braced by metal crossed stretchers, painted black with silver striping detail, with the antique tray affixed. The tray has holes for handles at either side, a wide lip and a deep trough over which a piece of polished edge glass has been inserted. The surfaces of the tray are embellished with painted birds and flowers into which abalone chips have been set. Overall the table measures 31" x 21-1/2" x 18-1/2"H.

A delicately proportioned side chair, with the wood portions painted in a dark teal color with gilt accenting, with a caned seat, measuring approx. 37"H x 17-1/4"W x 16"D. The chair has square tapering husk carved legs, a shield shaped seat and a carved and openwork back that has classical revival details and swan's heads at the top.

1122. A Monumental Antique French Armoire, ca. 1760
A large antique French oak armoire, measuring 98-1/2"H x 60"W x 25"D, with two doors with inset mirror panels, and the interior with shelves and two drawers, all adjustable. The exterior of the armoire is heavily adorned with carved leaves, flowers, and architectural details, and is finished in a light pickled finish. At the center of the top is a basket of flowers in deep relief, and the doors also have a flower basket image in ovals below the mirror. The apron is also carved with meandering vines and the feet are scrolled and carved. The cornice comes off for transporting the piece, but the body does not disassemble. Truck delivery only.
