An excellent Japanese Satsuma vase, Meiji Period, unsigned by the maker, in a variation of a gourd shape with two flowing asymmetrical handles near the neck, measuring approx. 7-1/2"H, with minutely detailed and intricate gilt and raised enameled decorations over a cobalt blue glaze, and two vignettes of clear glaze containing pictures of courtly scenes; one with women and children and the other with musicians and warriors.
