| 484. A Reproduction of a Bronze by Frederic Remington
"Cheyene". Cast bronze reproduction, mounted onto a marble base, with an etched brass nameplate, measuring approx. 20-1/2"H x 22"W. The Cheyenne was an "accomplishment in grace & fluidity that surpassed all other prior attempts to portray the horse in natural flight." First completed in 1901, this was the first of Remingtons sculptures to be cast in one piece. Remington wanted to show a horse with all four legs off the ground in a gallop. Using stop action photography by Edward Muybridge as a tool, this was accomplished, then cast in bronze in 1904. 300/500 Sold $563.50 back to catalog |
