1150. An Early 20th Century Decorative Side Chair

An early 20th Century decorative side chair in a Provincial style that is a marriage of ornaments from several sources, made by a Grand Rapids Michigan maker (Century), in a dark wood with turned legs, scroll-cut stretchers, carved surfaces with arches and turned finials in the open back, the side rails terminating in carved lions holding cartouches and the top rail depicting a Thai prince killing a dragon with a castle in the distance. Part of the woods are painted in polychrome. The seat of the chair is upholstered with a dark brown leather surrounded by nailhead trim. Overall the chair measures approx. 40"H x 18"W x 15-1/2"D.
