| 372. An Ackermann & Fritze Miniature Vase with a Portrait Medallion by Wagner, German, after 1905
This wonderful little piece is of cylinder shape with a tiny flared mouth; the vase features a portrait medallion depicting a young lady holding a violin in her right hand and a note sheet in her right, she is probably rehearsing a piece by Max Reger "Abendlied", as it is also the title of this vase; portrait is signed "Wagner," a fine and very prolific miniature and porcelain painting German artist of the late 19th early 20th centuries. Overall body is in lustre glaze which changes from pale blue at the top to dark navy color on the bottom; tall dandelions and other Art Nouveau inspired floral decorations in raised gilt add richness to this delightful piece. Base bears a blue underglaze 'beehive' mark, hand-written mark "Dec:#186/ Depase?/ Abendlied/ 4083." Overall measures approx. 5"T x 2"W. 200/400 Sold $586.50 back to catalog |
