A striking Art Deco dining set including a table with one leaf and four chairs, all matching, in the style of the British makers, the Epstein brothers, and similar to their ;Cloud" furniture designs. The dining table is situated on two pedestal bases and the top echos the "cloud" shape. The table is veneered with beautifully mottled sections of burlwood veneer. The base measures approx. 59-1/2" x 30-3/4" without the removable top and leaf. The top itself has two end pieces, each measuring approx. 37" x 41" x 1-3/4"D, with a 4-1/2" veneered apron. The leaf measures approx. 23-3/4" x 41". There are some losses to the veneer and other scars on the wood. The four chairs also coordinate in the "cloud" style, with barrel outside backs in beautifully bookmatched burlwood veneers, slightly splayed plain legs, the interiors of the seats and backs are covered in a taupe color leather, with significant damage from use and age. There is a brass "piping" surrounding the outside edge of the backs, some of which is loose and all is oxidized from age. There are natural fissures in the burlwood in over the table top, along with chips, scuffs and scars from use.
