188. Rockwell Kent (American, 1882-1971)

"Greenland Mother". Lithograph on paper, signed in pencil in the lower right margin, matted and framed under glass, the image size 7" x 4-1/2", and with the framing overall 16-1/4" x 12-3/4". Produced as part of the Print-a-Month series, issued by the Cleveland Printmaker's Club, ca. 1932-1937. Edition of 250, Plate 29.

During the Depression decade of the 1930's Cleveland was almost as important as a major catalyst for original printmaking as New York and Chicago. Associations like the Cleveland Printmakers and the Print Club of Cleveland commissioned such fine Cleveland artists as Henry Keller, Paul Travis, Clarence Carter, William Sommer, George Adomeit, Honore Guilbeau and Price Chamberlin for original etchings, lithographs, woodcuts and linocuts.
