A thin copper sheet with hand work in relief of a hunt scene with two cheetahs fighting over a kill, which appears to be a large deer, possibly characters from ancient Persian mythology. Relief has green multi-colored patina overall and has several breaks with losses. Mounted to a frosted plexi stand with mount, fragment is approx. 4" x 14-1/2". On stand approx. 7"T. Possibly Sassanian, or Greek.

The Sassanian empire lasted from 226 AD through the 7th Century. The borders of the empire stretched to include all of modern Iran and parts of Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and the Gulf Coast of the Arabian peninsula. The state religion was Zoroastrianism.
