1114. A Superb Pair of English Regency Pole Screens

A superb pair of English Regency pole screens, each approx. 67"H with a central shaft surmounted by an urn shape, supported by a tripod base and with another urn shape turned just above the base and painted with brown leaves over the gilt finish, with the legs spanned below by a circular shape (one wood and one metal). The wood surfaces are finished in a dark brown faux wood glaze with gilt striping over all. There are octagonal frames suspended on each shaft from a rope pulley that goes through the shaft and terminates below in a very large wooly tassel for moving the frames up and down. The frames have silk sces and floral designs, beautifully embroidered, and fit in the frames behind reverse painted black lacquer and gilt borders. The frames measure 15" x 15". Some of the lacquer is delaminating a bit.
