| 1115. A Marvelous English Piecrust Table
An English walnut piecrust top tripod table with a satiny finish on the shaped top measuring approx. 21-1/2" in diameter. The unusual carved and pierced pedestal has an interior stem reminiscent of a palm tree, caged by a pierced Chippendale style fretwork, with a spreading gadrooned crown at the top, supported by three legs that are carved with cartouches and foliate patterns, with claw and ball bird feet, and with a spill of shapes between the legs that resemble the tree's roots. The table measures approx. 30-1/2"H. The underside center of the tripod base is supported by a hand-wrought metal brace. The rectangular wood piece screwed to support the top has a good deal of worming. The top does not have a tilt mechanism. 5,000/7,000 Sold $5,750.00 back to catalog |
