| 942. English Victorian Sterling Silver Standish by Stuart Clifford, London, ca. 1882
Antique Victorian standish with a c-scroll engraved platform featuring a pen compartment engraved with ribbon design, and a single glass ink-well cut in diamond pattern and fitted with sterling silver stopper engraved with a similar design. The platform is raised on three scroll feet. Both the stopper and platform are properly hallmarked with a lion passant, leopard head (London), date mark "G" within a shield cartouche, and a tariff mark. Maker's mark "SC" for Stuart Clifford (London, red. 1874). The standish measures approx. 7½"W x 4½"L x 1"T, the inkwell is approx. 3"T x 2¼"W. 600/900 Sold $258.75 back to catalog |
