698. A Pair of Orivit Pewter Vases


A pair of highly decorative Orivit pewter vases, each measuring approx. 8-3/8"H x 2-1/8" in diameter at the base. Each is shaped in an attenuated vase form with two handles, and is decorated in relief with swags and Neoclassical faces. The foot is decorated with gadrooning. Each is marked on the underside and stamped with the number 3526.

699. An Antique Tibetan Belt


An antique Tibetan belt, approx. 52"L overall x 2-3/4"W, comprised of a 10-1/2"L leather strap at one end and three rectangular sections separated by ornately patterned cast and gilt metal ornaments hinged on decorative brass straps over leather. Each of the rectangular sections is constructed from textile, leather and deeply carved metal ornaments. At the center of each of six of the ornaments is a roughly polished piece of coral. The buckle is a pretty gilt metal, and has bead decorations. This is a ceremonial piece, similar to those worn today.

A Russian two-part brazier with a lid, fashioned in brass, in an onion-dome shape set on four cast legs with lion's heads and paw feet. The parts are pierced in a decorative manner for air flow as well as aesthetics. The lid terminates in the figure of a woman with flowing garments. Overall it measures approx. 32"H x 24" in diameter at the widest.

An intricately cast Art Nouveau style iron wall shelf from a railroad car, with a silver tone finish, measuring approx. 54-1/2" x 12", with a 3-1/2"H apron on three sides and self-brackets to attach to the wall.

702. An Antique American Empire Style Mirror


An antique American Empire style mirror, with ring turned pilasters surrounding the frame, with corner blocks and applied brass rosettes, with the panel top containing a deeply carved ornament in the shape of a rose and the bottom two-thirds a plain mirror. The finish is a combination of gilt and black paint with a heavy antiquing. Overall the mirror measures approx. 34"H x 15-1/2"W x 2"D.

703. A Roeber Delft Style Mantel Clock


A Roeber mantel clock in a Delft-style glazed ceramic case, the works marked on the inside "E. K. Roeber Clock Co. New York, U.S.A. Pat. Oct. 9 1894, with a winding key. The face is made of a soft vinyl-like printed material. Overall the case measures 10-1/2"H x 9"W x 5-1/2"D. Impressed in the ceramic above the opening on the back is "No16K".

A Gothic Style

704. A Gothic Style "Steeple" Clock


A handsome wooden mantel clock in the Gothic style, with the architectural case measuring approx. 20"H x 10-3/4"W x 4-5/8"D, and with smooth pilasters at either side of the door with turned wood finials, approx. 18"H. The hinged wood with inset glass door has a small turn-latch knob and the glass is surrounded by a silver-tone fillet and has reverse painted silver designs. The face is cardboard with a brass frame, printed with Roman numerals. It has a pleasant low-tone chime. There is a partial paper label from the manufacturer on the back from the Connecticut company, possibly E. N Welch.

705. A Trianon Suisse Desk Clock


A pretty Trianon Suisse desk clock, with a tapering rectangular light green marble base, with an arched-top gilt metal framed case on two ball feet with a beveled edge glass front, and with the interior a pictorial scene with hand painted color accents of a romantic couple in a formal garden setting in front of a monument that has the clock face on it's dome and an open arch below through which is seen a cast metal image of Cupid forging his arrows. Overall the piece measures 4-3/8"H x 5"W x 1-3/8"D. Printed on the picture is the name "Swiss", and the name "Trianon...fabr. Suisse" is imprinted in the metal on the back; the number 73487 is stamped at the bottom of the back.

706. An Antique Wooden Lap Desk


An antique wooden lap desk, measuring approx. 16" x 9-1/2" x 5-1/4", in a rich brown wood veneer with a brass inset in the top, a matching brass key escutcheon (part missing), with the key (working lock). The interior is fitted with two hinged lid compartments with the writing surface covered in brown velvet, and with a line of four compartments at one end, two of which contain bottles, and one with a wood lid with a bone knob, to contain pens. Though it needs some restoration, this fine old piece is still very handsome.

A Campaign Style Travelling Desk Box

707. A Campaign Style Travelling Desk Box


A handsome campaign style travelling desk box, in a rich brown mahogany wood with brass edge fittings, brass hinged handles on the sides and an engraved brass nameplate inset into the top, measuring overall 20"W x 6-7/8"H x 10"D. There is an inset surrounding the keyhole in a lighter wood that is probably a replacement. Inside the desk are two hinged writing surfaces covered in green material with fabric tabs to lift them. The top surface is latched with a small brass spring mechanism revealing an open compartment. The lower half has a similar surface and compartment with no latch (this is the replacement surface). Adjacent to this is a series of compartments for writing implements with a curved lid with a button knob on the pen compartment. The panel of wood between these compartments and the main open area conceals a hidden row of three small drawers with ivory or bone knobs. The panel is released with an unobtrusive wood latch at the side and a metal interior spring. There are two small keys that accompany the box, but neither appears to work the lock.
