846. A Hide-A-Way Writing Desk, ca. 19th Century
An unusual American Federal "Aaron Burr" style writing desk in the shape of an oval drum table on four scrolled legs with casters. The shape is reminiscent a cellarette or a wine cooler on the outside. The exterior of the drum is detailed with rippling applied ornaments. The hinged top opens at the center to make a writing surface. There is a small drawer with a lock mechanism and escutcheon below the writing surface and scrolling apron surrounding the drawer. The opposing side of the form swings out on a hinge forming a small rounded-back seat. It has a patent label dated 1854 from Stephen Hedges on the interior lid. Overall it measures 33-1/4" x 25-1/2" x 29-1/4"H.

847. A Carved Oak Antique Chair
A carved oak antique chair, ca. early 20th Century, in the manner of an English side chair, with carved members on the back, and apron, and with spiral twist carved uprights and stretchers. The chair also has small wooden casters at the bottom of each leg. It has been reupholstered in a woven tapestry style fabric with French gimp and nailhead trim on the seat and the back splat. The chair measures approx. 44"H x 21"W x 19"D.

A small mahogany tilt-top pedestal table in a rich ruddy brown finish, 20" x 26-1/4" x 28-3/4"H, with a turned wood pedestal base on three simple legs with ball feet. The top is rectangular with rounded clipped corners.

849. A Flip Top Game Table
A flip top game table, with a shaped top with inlaid edge banding, measuring approx. 36" x 36" open x 31"H. The table is made in warm brown mahogany veneers and has inlaid details on the legs and a classical urn in the front of the apron. The two rear legs swing out on wooden hinges to support the top when open, and there is a small spring activated button at the edge to hold the top in place. This would make a handsome narrow hall table.

850. A Carved Oak Wall Cabinet
A carved oak wall cabinet, measuring approx. 37"H x 30"W x 5-1/2"D, with an architectural shape with an open pediment and two arches below with pilasters and two shelves. The pediment and the front face of the balance is carved in a low relief, similar to the manner of antique furnishings of the 17th/18th Century of many countries. It has two one-hole hangers on the back for hanging.

A pair of French-inspired arm chairs with curvilinear grooved arms and back, with tapering fluted rounded legs and with carved flower blocks at the top. The sides, back and seat are caned and each has a boxed welted buttoned seat pad covered in an aqua striee velvet fitted to shape. The wood finish is a "Pecan" color with a distressed surface. The chairs measure approx. 32"H x 22-3/4"W x 21"D.

The tray and the base are both painted in a muted Chinese red lacquer finish with a mottled effect, with gilt oriental style floral designs strewn about the surface if the top. The base us attached to the tray with velcro tabs.
