A lot of three sterling silver table top items including; a simple bowl on a small foot, 4-3/4" in diameter x 2-5/8"H marked by International Sterling, a pretty heart-shaped hinged lid box 3-3/4" x 3-1/2" x 1-1/2"H with repousse decorations and a monogram in the center of the lid, by Woodside Sterling Company, and an ornately detailed wine coaster with pierced floral details around the rim and a monogram in the center, by Hamilton & Designer, approx. 6-3/4" in diameter x 1-3/8"H. Total weight of the lot is 25.38 troy oz.

This partial luncheon service includes 3 modern hollow dinner knives, 8-3/4"L; 3 luncheon forks, 7-1/2"L; 4 salad forks, 6-3/4"L; 4 teaspoons, 6-1/2"L; 5 butter spreaders, 6"L; 5 soup spoons, 6-1/2"L; two serving spoons, 8-1/4"L; and a serving fork, 8"L. The total weight of the lot excluding the knives is approx. 30 troy oz. "Woodlily" pattern was introduced in 1945.

Bloedel", 5-1/4"L; and a small tomato server with a gold washed pierced bowl and a twisted handle with lilly-of-the-valley finial, not marked, not tested, measuring approx. 4-1/2"L. The total weight of the lot is 4.18 troy oz.

654. Figural Sterling Silver Dish by La Pierre


Interesting sterling silver square dish with undulating sides, each corner featuring a stylized head of Indian chief. The bottom of the dish is stamped "L Sterling." Overall it measures approx. 5" square x 3/4"H. The La Pierre Manufacturing Company was founded in 1885 in New York City at 18 East 14th Street. In 1893, the company was relocated to Newark, NJ and then incorporated in 1895. They were primarily manufacturers of sterling dresser sets, holloware and novelties. The company was purchased by the International Silver Co. in 1929 and moved to Wallingford, Connecticut. (Glitter and The Gold, Dietz, 1997). The dish weighs 2.68 troy oz.

656. A Lot of Two Sheffield Silver Plate Tabletop Pieces


A lot of two Sheffield silver plate tabletop serving pieces including; a centerpiece basket with a hinged handle made by James Dixon & Sons, measuring approx. 12-1/4" in diameter at the widest x 4-1/4"H, standing on a lobbed pedestal base, marked with an applied medallion on the underside, with a hinged cast handle with leaf, shell and beaded designs, and with the rim of the bowl decorated in coordinating relief designs, and the interior further embellished with tooled designs. The second item is a heavy oval serving plate with hot water container and lid, with removable handle, approx. 11" x 8" without the handles x 5"H, with the standing on scrolled and beaded legs, with two matching handles, and rows of beaded ornaments around the lid. It has a monogram on one side of the lid and the handle is removable. It is marked on the underside in several places including the maker, Elkington & Son.

A silver plated samovar, ca. 1951, with British hallmarks seen on the shield shape on the front. The samovar with lid is in a classical urn shape on a pedestal with four bun feet, measuring overall approx. 18-1/2"H x 10" in diameter at the widest point. The urn has ram's heads with rings on either side as handles, and a fluted spigot with a bone insulator on the handle. The front of the base is engraved with a dedication and dated 1951.

Two ornately detailed silver plate items, the first an antique ewer with a hinged lid, with incised as well as repousse detailing, with the body in a classical urn shape, approx. 12-1/2"H x 5" in diameter at the shoulder. The ewer is old and may have been resilvered at one time. The second item is a hinged lid tankard on ball feet, made in Denmark in silver plate, with repousse designs over the entire body, 6-1/2"H x 3-3/4" in diameter, marked by the maker on the underside. The tankard is of relatively recent manufacture.

A lot of five elegant silver plate service pieces, including an oval shaped salver on small feet 7-5/8" x 5-3/4", a Wallace expanding trivet on four celluloid feet, 10-3/8" in diameter, an oval tray with an ornate relief pattern and a pierced gallery, 9-7/8" x 7-1/2", a circular tray with incised ornamentation in the center and a cast scrolling detail around the lip, 10-1/2" in diameter, and last a hinged lid creamer, with monogram on the side, 4"H x 3-1/2" in diameter. Excellent for the upcoming holidays!
