| 57. John Teyral (Russian/American, 1912-1999)
"Pompeian Walls". Mixed media on canvas, signed in the lower left corner, framed in a strip frame, measuring overall approx. 13-1/2" x 20". Teyral was a student at the Cleveland Institute of Art in the tradition of other Cleveland School artists. When he graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1934, he received an Agnes Gund traveling scholarship to study at the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts. He also studied at the Grande Chaumiere in Paris and the Accademia Belli Arti in Florence. In addition to fine arts painting, Mr. Teyral did commercial art for McCann-Erickson Advertising Agency in the 1930s and 1940s and taught advanced painting at the Cleveland Institute of Art for 40 years. 200/400 Sold $69.00 back to catalog |
