The original label is on the back of the dust cover, from Pillsbury's Pictures, Inc., Yosemite, Cal. with the name of the image hand written, and with "D'orotone Print...Printed on glass and backed with gold" at the top. This piece is not signed.
Arthur Pillsbury specialized in glass orotones and set up a photographic studio in Yosemite Valley in 1907, when he bought out the firm of Hallet-Taylor, and remained there until 1928, when he sold out to the Yosemite Park and Curry Company. His photographs depict the many facets of Yosemite Valley as it was opening up to an increasing tourist trade at the beginning of the twentieth century.
