602. A Japanese Porcelain Dish

A Japanese porcelain dish with a small foot and a flaring rim, approx. 8-1/2" in diameter, with calligraphy in iron red on the underside. This dish is said to be pre-Meiji, using the colors that were popular in China during the Ming period in Swatow provincial ware of the Fukien province. It is further said to be "Hichozan Shimpo - maker, Hizen, Saga Nagasaki, before 1868.
