| 763. A Unique Prattware Inkwell
A unique Prattware inkwell, with thick ceramic body, 2-3/4" in in diameter x 2-1/2"H, with a polychrome hand decorated transfer image around the sides of a battle scene, titled "The Dragoon Charge - Balaklava". This is said to be a late Prattware piece, ca. 1847-88 made in Staffordshire, England by F. & R. Pratt of Fenton. The image from a copper plate original engraved by Jesse Austin, using a different plate for the outline and one for each color. Registration dots can be seen around the bottom edge. The underside is impressed with "No3" and stamped "4" in black in the underglaze. 100/200 Sold $80.50 back to catalog |
