Sepik River region. Carved wood figure with inlay eyes and knotted grass decoration on beard. Squatting figure with movable ring, fangs and incised hair decoration. Probably kept in the spirit house where it was given the power to protect the village from unfriendly water spirits called maselei. Approx. 16"T.
