517. Papua New Guinea Spear Group, ca. Late 19th/20th Century

Four wood carved hunting spears. One identified as being from the Wahgi tribe (Kula Jimben) of the western highlands, approx. 4'-5-1/2"L. The second spear is of a dark wood with patina and rounded surface and pointed ends, approx. 6'-2"L. The third spear appears to be comprised of two woods with applied woven grass banding and a carved jagged tip, approx. 4'-2"L. The fourth spear also appears to be comprised of two woods, again with woven grass banding and carved jagged end, approx. 4'1-1/2"L.
