254. George Wesley Bellows (American, 1882-1925)
"The Battle". Lithograph on watermarked paper, signed by the artist in pencil in the lower right margin, titled and inscribed in pencil by Bolton Brown in the lower left, the title in the lower center. The image size measures 15-1/2" x 13", and the name of the artist is in the stone at the upper left corner. The paper size is 21-1/2" x 17-1/2", and with the matting and framing under glass the entire piece measures 26-1/8" x 22-7/8". On the back of the dust cover are several labels including one from the Columbus Gallery of Fine Arts, another stating "Purchased from The Lending Gallery of The Columbus Gallery of Fine Arts, Columbus, Ohio, and a label from H.V. Allison & Co., Inc. in New York, "'The Battle' Original lithograph by George Bellows (1882-1925) Bellows Catalog #192. Drawn in 1924. Proof signed by the artist and by the printer, Bolton Brown. Edition of 52 proofs. An illustration for 'Men Like Gods' by H. G. Wells."

256. Marc Chagall (Russian, 1887-1985)
'The Marriage". Etching and aquatint on paper, not signed, published in the 1960's by Collector's Guild Limited of New York, the plate size approx. 12-3/4" x 9-1/2", matted and framed under plexi 19-1/4" x 15-1/8". During the 1960's the Collector's Guild published a number of lithographs and etchings by leading contemporary French and American artists. The Collector's Guild rarely specified the size of their editions but it is known that most of their original prints were published in 500 or less impressions.

264. Norbert Lenz (American, Cleveland School, 1900-1992)
A lot of two unusual collaged works by Norbert Lenz, consisting of a large unframed collage with an apple green burlap covering over a wooden panel on which is affixed a smaller rectangle of cloth used as an artist's drop cloth, on which is mounted a black and white picture clipped from a magazine, original label on verso. Overall it measures 14-5/8" x 48". The second is a collaged assemblage, with the backing being a square of plywood, 23" x 24-3/8", on which is mounted a square of masonite blocked out 7/8", and a section of artist's board. At the lower right corner are several layered shapes of board depicting an owl and blocked out dimensionally. There are hand painted shapes and letters in colors decorating the square along with some collaged photos of paintings cut from magazines. The piece is titled in the original label on verso, "Wise Old Bird".
