A handsome cake knife with a sterling silver handle fashioned in a Danish style similar to "Acanthus" by Georg Jensen. The knife has a stainless steel blade, with the blade marked by Geo. Luxner & Sons, Sheffield, England. The sterling silver handle is marked at the neck on both sides, but the word "sterling" is somewhat obscured by the repair. The knife measures approx. 10-5/8"L overall.

939. A Sterling Silver Dish With The Face of a Hound
An interesting irregularly shaped sterling silver dish in deep relief with the face of a hound in the center, and with a wide loop applied to the back for holding, possibly as a tastevin. The dish measures approx. 4-1/2" x 3-1/2" and weighs approx. 1.10 toz. It is hallmarked and marked "sterling" on the back as well. The mark is that of J. E. Blake Co., 1889-1936 of Attleboro, Mass., known for silver novelty and vanity items.

940. A Silver Condiment Set in a Presentation Box
An attractive silver condiment set in a presentation box with a label from J. Joseph & Sons, consisting of a baluster form salt shaker, engraved "Presented to K.M. Brooks" on one side and "Eveready Port Elizabeth 1945-6" on the other side and stamped with a patent number on the underside, approx. 4"H, a matching salt with a cobalt blue glass insert and a salt spoon and a condiment container with a hinged lid and cobalt blue glass insert and spoon. These are approx. 1-5/8"H x 2-1/2" x 2". All of the metals are marked on the sides with the maker's mark "E.W.H" and an anchor mark, lion mark and some with the date letter "Q" and some with "T" & "P"; the spoons have the maker's mark "J.S.&S" (Birmingham, ca. 1810-1814). The containers have the same patent stamp on the underside. The pieces are in a handsome case with black velvet and ivory satin on the interior, measuring 9-1/2"W x 5-1/4"D x 2-3/4"H. The total weight of the metal is 5.39 toz.

941. A Sterling Silver Traveling Folding Spoon and a Tea Strainer
A lot of two sterling silver items, the first a folding traveling folding spoon, with a small and a large bowl at either end of a pierced decorative handle, marked "800", 6-1/2"L open and weighing 1.44 troy oz. The second is a decorative tea strainer with a bone handle, made by A.C. Grogan Company of Pittsburgh, ca. 1890-1930. The sterling silver portion of the tea strainer is marked on the back of the handle. The circular bowl measures 4" in diameter and has an etched design around the inside of meandering vines The handle has three initials in a scrolling script engraved into one end.

942. A Small Silver Canister with Lid
A small silver canister with a screw-on lid with a hinged handle at the top, the exterior covered with repouse designs in rococo motifs, measuring approx. 3"H x 2-1/2" in diameter. The underside is inscribed with a zig-zag line next to a small oval mark with the image of a weevil inside, which was a French import mark ca. 1864. No other marks were found. It weighs approx. 5.12 toz.

A lot of two German silver serving pieces, the first a serving spoon with incised decorations of grapes and vines in the bowl and with the cast stem having two curvilinear dolphins on either side and with a milkmaid figure at the top, approx. 8-1/8"L, and second a server in cast and engraved pierced work with elaborate scroll designs and a repouse tavern scene on the blade and with the handle terminating in the figure of a milkmaid, approx. 10-3/4"L. The two pieces weigh approx. 6 toz. total.
