| 1015. Three Framed Glazed Ceramic Tiles of Scenes From "Le Mort D'Arthur"
Three modern glazed ceramic tiles after those designed for Minton in 1875 by John Moyr Smith (1839-1912). Smith, a very popular designer for the Mintons, created a set of twelve tiles depicting scenes from Mallory's "Le Mort D'Arthur" which was a very popular subject at the time and maintains its appeal today. Originally they were produced in different colors and were used for decoration of a fireplace surround in a full set. This group is done in soft brown, black and grey. These Arts and Crafts design tiles measure 6" x 6", and are framed in dark wood frames overall measuring 7-7/8" x 7-7/8". 50/100 Sold $166.75 back to catalog |
