An unframed Indian miniature gouache with gold pigment highlights on paper mounted onto painted border paper, overall approx. 10-1/4" x 7-3/8", depicting Sir Charles Metcalf seated in a wooden chair with a half-size Indian attendant behind him holding his hat and a handkerchief. Sir Charles Metcalf (1785-1846) was in India from 1801-1838.
