| 1018. A Rare Three-Piece Meissen Figural
A rare three piece Meissen figural, fit together at the base, depicting a bacchanalian celebration. The largest piece depicts Bacchus holding a cluster of grapes and a chalice walking in front of a tree trunk. The second piece represents a woman (Ariadne?) attending to Cupid drawing back his bow seated on a barrel while another cherub sips from a bowl seated on the mound base. Two doves spoon at her feet. The smallest piece represents a cherub with a smiling expression and holding a small dish of wine having tumbled below the others. Bacchus measures 11-5/8"H, the central piece measures 9-3/4"H and the smallest 3-1/8"H. 900/1,200 Sold $920.00 back to catalog |
