349. Ferdinand Levillain (18371905) & Ferdinand Barbedienne (1810-1892), Bronze Tazza "Menalcas Mopsus", 19th Century

Designed by Levillain and signed in the casting, marked F. Barbedienne,on underside of tazza as well as base. Large, round centerpiece, in the center with a round relief medallion with an antique shepherd scene, titled "Menalcas Mopsus" after the two shepherds in the work of the Roman poet Vergilius. The two handles with cast Bacchus heads, detailed in gold tone. Approx. 6"T to top of handle, approx. 18-3/4"W from handles.
