This is the true first edition published as a trade paperback in a small edition a year prior to the 1994 hardback and limited edition. London; The Rodale Press, 1954.Tale of a book mad monk and his attempt to get the "only" (he thinks) copy of Furs e Ordinacions, printed in 1482 by Lambarto Palmart, the first Spanish printer. Based on an actual event.This copy SIGNED BY Anne Levine " Anne and Bob Levine December 1957". The Levine's owned the popular PUBLIX BOOK MART in Cleveland. SANDY MACPHERSON: BOOK COLLECTOR. Poliphilus by Michael and Winifred Bixler and printed on dampened Rives paper. The book was bound at the Campbell-Logan Bindery. Neil Shaver designed and printed. 4 3/4 inches x 7 1/4 in., frontispiece printed in two colors; unpaginated; [38]pp, illustrated with lino-cuts printed in one, or two colors. Brown cloth spine and sides, with mounted, printed title label on the spine, and tan, lilac and copper marbled paper over boards. As new.
