869. A Stellmacher Teplitz Centerpiece
A fabulous Stellmacher Teplitz glazed ceramic centerpiece, in a naturalistic shape of water lily leaves tapering to an open sculptural pedestal stem. The elongated irregular shape is approx. 14-1/2"W x 8-1/2"D x 8"H. The body is glazed in shades of green and black with some light gilt accents, marked on the underside.

870. An Amphora Teplitz Vase
An Art Nouveau Amphora Teplitz vase, approx. 11"H, ca. late 19th/early 20th century, with the outer surface molded in a naturalistic relief pattern and with a band around the middle depicting birds seated on branches, marked on the underside. The glazes are unusual and have an opalescent cast with a mottled gilt accent touching the high points. The birds are done in a naturalistic brown/grey enamel glaze and outlined with gilt enamel.

871. A Cowan Pottery Glazed Ceramic Candlestick for the Rowfant Club, ca. 1925
A candlestick made for the Rowfant Club of Cleveland, signed underneath by R. C. Cowan, number 8 of 156 copies, titled and dated in green, in the shape of a groundhog holding a candleholder with an open book with the inscription "Light Seeking Light Doth Light of Light Beguile". It is glazed in pine green mottled matte glaze and measures 9"H. Designed by Frank Nelson Wilcox (Cleveland School, 1887-1964) and produced from 1912-1931. Similar to the 1903 candlestick made by Tiffany Studios in 1903. The making of candlesticks began in early 1894 when each member was charged to "appear at the annual convocation bearing a candlestick with his name attached thereto in autograph". The Rowfant Club is an exclusive Cleveland, Ohio, men's bibliophilic organization started in 1892.

883. A Porcelain and Ormolu Decorative Compote with Lid
A lovely porcelain compote with lid, on a decorative ormolu tripod base, with ormolu fittings around the lip of the lid and the handle at the top and three ram's heads as decorations attached around the sides. The porcelain is hand decorated with roses inside gilt laurel leaf circles of various sizes with a bright pink background and gilt details. There is piercework in the porcelain in a band around the upper edge between the ram's heads. The lid is marked on the underside with a Sevres design in blue underglaze with "E" inside, circa 1890.

The sides are hand painted with pretty courting scenes and insects. A really exceptional piece in spite of the condition problems.

888. A Delicate Pair of Footed Serving Dishes
A delicate pair of Victorian footed porcelain entree dishes, each in a rectangular shape with pierced handles at either end, with a shaped footed base, approx. 11-1/2" x 9" x 2-3/8"H. They are not marked apart from the pattern number on the underside, 7223 in gilt. Similar to pieces and possibly created by John Ridgeway, ca. 1833. They have a rococo style border hand painted in a peach glaze embellished by gilt. The centers are decorated with sprays of flowers, partly transfer with polychrome hand painted colors.
