A vintage slipper sofa made by Dunbar, ca. 1950's, possibly designed by Edward Wormley, measuring approx. 97"W x 28-1/2"D x 27-1/2"H, covered in a satin striee fabric in tan, taupe, light green and light yellow. The sofa has four box welted back cushions, two box welted seat cushions and one extra small box welted cushion. It stands on rounded tapering splayed modern legs in a dark finish.

A George III carved mahogany corner chair, measuring approx. 30"W x 24"D x 33-3/4"H, with a newer slipseat insert covered in blue silk striee fabric (aged and soiled). The gracefully appointed chair frame is fashioned in a rich warm mahogany color with a polished finish. The crestrail and raised center yoke curve gracefully into shaped arms, the three rail supports are carved as fluted columns, the front leg is carved at the knee and foot, and the back and side legs are carved at the foot to match the front. The two back splats are pierced and incised with carved foliate details. Purchased at Christie's Auction, 10/7/86, Lot # 48.

A set of 20th century made carved Chippendale style dining chairs, six (6) are matching side chairs and two (2) non-matching with arms. The host's armchair matches the side chairs and measures approx. 25"W x 19"D x 41"H and the side chairs 21" x 18" x 41". The hostess armchair is somewhat plainer than the others, with a simple carved shell at the top of the crestrail, carved scrolls at the ends of the arms and claw and ball feet, measuring approx. 23"W x 18"D x 40"H. They are all beautifully carved on the front face, arms and legs and have a lovely majestic formal quality. All have slip seats upholstered in a white linen textile.

A traditionally styled storage cabinet with drawers, set up on turned legs with stretchers made to simulate a chest on stand, made in China for Bernhardt Furniture. The cabinet measures approx. 58"W x 20"D x 71"H. It's style is inspired by cabinets from several periods, with a dark brown distressed wood finish and foliate carving in the drawer fronts and at the corners of the stand portion. The metal drawer knobs are also in a distressed finish.

A Sheraton-inspired small chest, with two upper drawers with locks (lacking the key), and a pair of tabour doors over an open compartment with one shelf. The doors have small brass knobs and the drawers each have a decorative hinged ring pull. Overall it measures 35-3/4" x 15-7/8" x 34" and sits up on four squared legs.

A Small Mahogany Veneered Chest

1180. A Small Mahogany Veneered Chest


A small storage chest with mahogany veneers, with two small drawers at either side of the top, each with a ring pull, and with two doors over the compartment below with one shelf. The fronts of the doors are decorated to simulate tambour doors. There is a shaped apron with an applied brass classical detail, and the chest sits up on four legs; the front legs in a squared tapering shape and the back legs in a bracket shape. It has canted corners at the front. Overall it measures 36-1/2" x 21-1/4" x 36-3/4"H. The lock escutcheon and the key are missing. It may be that the original configuration of the cabinet had a lift-up top with a central open area. The center front of the veneer has a fill where a keyhole would have been.

1181. A Delicate Marquetry Vitrine


A delicately proportioned marquetry vitrine, with the base portion set up on high legs with spade feet and with two drawers in the center and two hinged shaped door compartments at either side. The upper portion has glass doors on either side and a glass front with silk rope trim around the inner perimeter, a carved detail around the top and a broken arch cornice with an urn shape in the center. The cabinet is in a walnut wood finish with marquetry details. It has two glass shelves in the interior and a mirrored back. Overall it measures approx. 65-1/4"H x 25-1/2"W x 14"D.
