A marvelous pair of gilt metal oval caskets, approx. 6" x 5" x 4"H. Each is made with the body in incised foliate designs with cast ornamentation on the sides and tops in between which are oval portraits set in metal bezels behind glass. The interiors are upholstered in a coral color watered silk with a small braid trim. Each has a locking mechanism (not working and lacking one key). The bottom of one has been recovered with newer green wool felt. With the exception of the replaced paintings, the miniatures are of excellent quality and are said to be members of one family.

A guilloche enamel box with a hinged lid, in sterling silver, approx. 5-3/4" x 4-1/8", x 1-1/4"H. The lid is a framing for a humorous genre painting on ivory or bone inset under glazing, the verso of which has another humorous scene etched into it with a black pigment fill and is framed under the lid. The beautiful guilloche enamel on the body is in a mint green and there are hand painted foliate designs surrounding the lid and a pretty meandering silver ornament on the front. The inside of the box is marked "sterling...935" with other hallmarks and the rim is marked "Made in Austria".

A small dresser box, approx. 2-3/4" x 3-5/8" x 1-7/8"H, with the body and hinged lid made in ormolu, with an inset spandral of hand painted enamel surrounding an oval portrait of Marie Antoinette under a convex glass on the lid. The portrait measures approx. 2-1/8" x 1-3/8" and is surrounded with an ormolu rope detail. The interior of the box is upholstered in a silk lampas fabric.

A miniature portrait of young girl on ivory, signed lower right. Approx. 5-5/8" x 2-3/4". An oblong shaped leaf-decorated ormolu frame with a blue guilloche enamel reserve at the cresting and at the apron, velvet backing.
