890. An Early British Hand Decorated Moth Dish
A Staffordshire hand decorated hard paste porcelain dish, possibly New Hall, approx. 7-5/8" x 6-1/4", unmarked, with a cobalt blue "blueberry jam" border surrounded by mercury gilded striping and overglazed with meandering foliate designs, and with the center painted in the likeness of a stylized moth. Originally a teapot stand.

891. Three Pieces of Sevres Porcelain
A sweet group of three hand decorated porcelain pieces, the first a lovely bowl on a pedestal approx. 8-3/8" in diameter at the lip x 5-1/8"H, with gilt rim and foot, and with sprays of polychrome flowers delicately strewn over the interior surface, and swirls and swags of flowers around the outside, marked underneath with a Sevres mark. The other two pieces are matching diamond shaped dishes with slightly fluted edges, approx. 11-3/4" x 9-3/4", both similarly decorated with sprigs of polychrome flowers strewn about the inside and with the border in swags and bows. These are also marked on the underside with a Sevres mark.

894. A Single Blue & White Porcelain Candelabra with Cherubs
A charming blue and white porcelain candelabra with frilly bocage overall, in two parts, with the upper portion having five candle cups (four arms), and the lower portion may be used alone. The base has two polychrome glazed cherubs, on holding up some grapes and the other warming over a fire. There were no marks found, though this may have been lost in restoration. Overall it stands approx. 15"H.

This lot includes: an attractive Wedgwood urn with lid, decorated with Classical female figures, the urn has a round foot and is affixed to a rectangular plinth; overall with a lid measures approx. 12"T; second cobalt blue dip jasperware urn, probably by Adams Tunstall, is of graceful bulbous form raised on a round foot, decorated in white relief with dancing putti, with a removable lid measures approx. 13"T x 6"W; third item is a olive green jasperware jardiniere raised on four lion design feet, overall body decorated in very attractive design of Classical females with musical instruments, probably by Adams Tunstall, overall measures approx. 3-3/4"T x 8" in diameter.

Produced in 1948, this set of twelve commemorative plates made by Wedgwood depicts the venerated buildings on the campus of Yale University in cobalt blue transfer printed on cream color porcelain. Each is marked on the underside with the impressed mark as well as in blue under the glaze, and including the name of the building. They measure approx. 10-3/4" in diameter. The lot includes: Connecticut Hall, Wrexham Tower Memorial Quadrangle, Yale College from the Greenwood-Johnston Engraving of 1745, Harkness Memorial Tower, Sterling Memorial Library, Yale College Fence and Campus, Old Chapel, Sheffield Hall, Fine Arts Bridge, Vanderbilt Scientific Hall II, Walter Camp Memorial Gateway, and Old Library.

900. Two Beswick Glazed Ceramic Pieces
Two Beswick glazed ceramic pieces, marked, ca. 1936. The first is a tubular-shaped vase with a slightly flared foot, and with two asymmetrically mounted handles, approx. 7-1/2"H x 3-1/2" in diameter. The second is a pitcher with a bulbous base with a tapering foot and a flaring asymmetrical spout and a geometric handle, approx. 9"H. Both are hand decorated with taupe stylized trees, green bushes and blue, yellow and orange hollyhocks, in a style reminiscent of Clarice Cilff. Both are marked on the underside. These pieces may be the designs of Mr. Symcox, who worked for Beswick from 1933-39.
