955. Finely Carved Jade Censor in Archaic Style, Chinese
Expertly carved jade censor in the form of a bowl wit highly stylized scroll motif handles. Interior of the bowl is finely polished, while exterior is incised with a key-motif near the rim, followed with stepped scroll pattern in low relief, and acanthus leaf pattern descending to a small ring foot. The color of bowl is pale green-grey with copper brown inclusions throughout. Measures approx. 2-1/2"H x 5"W x 9"W with the handles.

A white jade pendant of rectangular form carved with low relief scene with people on one side and a rose flower on the other. The pendant is suspended from a carved jade bead necklace consisting of 68 round beads approx. 10 mm in diameter, stranded on red color thread. The beads are of uniform color, ranging in translucency from opaque to semi-translucent. The pendant and necklace are spaced with one coral color bead. The pendant measures approx. 2-1/2" x 1-3/4"; necklace is approx. 26"L.

A well carved Burmese jadite "Longevity" figurine with the figure of a toad at the base, approx. 8-1/2"H, standing on a carved wood base, approx. 1-3/8"H. The color is a pale green, slightly translucent, and the salmon color of the discs are from the natural skin of the stone, coming from oxidized iron in the stone.

A large size carved agate covered bowl, ca. 20th century, well-hollowed, in a richly variegated carnelian color banded agate, with the lid decorated with an applied figure of a recumbent elephant. Cartouches surround the base, each carved with a different animal. The bowl and the lid measure approx. 7-1/2"H x 9" in diameter at the widest point. It comes with a pierced carved wooden base, approx. 3"H.

Shoushan stone carving is a folk art found in Fujian province of China. Shoushan stones are excavated from the Shoushan village on the northern outskirts of Fuzhou city.
