A gorgeous hand painted and decorative porcelain vase/urn, with underglaze shield/beehive mark. The handles are formed from pairs of coiled serpents in gilt. The white glazed ground is magnificently enriched with gilt decoration. A sweet cartouche painting, hand painted and signed by Wagner, depicting three young children with sheet music, signing in a lush garden with nearby Robin in tree. Approx. 19"T x 12-1/2"W at handles.

A matched pair of blue handled urns decorated with gilt and stag hunt scenes, with "S" scroll handles and pedestal base on a small plinth. The have removable lids with pine cone finials, and both with over-glaze blue mark. A very impressive pair, each standing approx. 2'- 4-1/2"T, and 15-1/2"W at the handles.

A KPM porcelain plaque with the image of a panoramic landscape of Waldenburg, ca. 1857, inscribed in German in pencil on verso of the plaque indicating it was made by Kristler Porzellan-Manafactur, marked with the impressed KPM mark on verso, inscribed in German on the back of the frame (Remembering...2nd September, 1857) and also at the lower center edge of the plaque (illegibly). Built into the wood frame with a removable wood back and a glazed and a gilt porcelain frame attached to the front of the wood with bisque porcelain bocage and screwed on corner ornaments. The plaque measures approx. 8-1/2" x 10-3/4", and overall with the frame 13-1/4" x 15".

A fine KPM porcelain plaque, "The Awaking" depicting a beautiful young mother with her baby in an interior, approx. 8-3/4" x 6", framed in a black painted frame with a gilt liner, constructed to reveal the back of the plaque, overall approx. 13" x 10". The plaque has the impressed marks on verso and what appears to be an illegible signature in pencil and the date March, 1878.

A fine KPM porcelain hand decorated plaque, signed at the right "Wagner", approx. 5-1/2" x 3-5/8" sight size, framed with a highly carved and gilt foliate frame, approx. 3"W, with rose color textured matting. The plaque is marked with the impressed mark on verso. Nydia was the legendary blind flower girl of Pompeii, from the Victorian novel "The Last Days of Pompeii" by Edward Bulwer-Lytton, 1834. The original oil from which the composition was taken was painted by Cuno (Baron de) Bodenhausen.

A circular Royal Vienna porcelain plaque, approx. 20" in diameter with a slightly flaring lip, marked with the shield mark (beehive) in blue underglaze on the center of the verso and impressed mark "Schlaggenwald" at the edge verso. The central image of the plaque is a classical romantic scene with ladies in a carriage drawn by putti, surrounded by a rectangular layer of designs, and with stylized designs in the balance of the circles. The designs are enameled and have gilt over all. The picture itself is signed in the lower right corner "T. Reidl".

The plaques are in pierced cast brass frames with a deep relief and applied ornaments, overall approx. 14" x 14".

An impressive pair of Sevres porcelain lidded urns, approx. 24-1/2"H, with cast brass bases and gilt brass details around the base, lip and a pineapple knop at the top of each. The body of the porcelains are glazed in deep cobalt blue with gilt foliate enameled designs on top, and each has a large shield shaped hand painted pastoral scene signed "Lepage" on one side. The underside of the base is marked "Rene Michel...France."

The elaborate rococo-style domed cover with applied floral designs and winged cherubs rests on an urn-form body decorated with an extensive landscape scene encircled by floral motifs, flanked by floral-form handles mounted with cherubs, underglaze underside. Approx. 33-1/2"H x 12" in diameter at the widest point.

865. A Capodimonte Plaque of A Bacchanale in an Unusually Fine Frame


A hand decorated Capodimonte plaque depicting Bacchus after the festival with his companions attempting to lead a stubborn donkey on which he sits, in an unusual fine frame of painted wood, tooled brass panel, with cast gilt ornaments at the corners and at the center of each panel and with oval insets of lapis and carnelian alternating around the panel. The plaque measures approx. 7-3/4" x 13-1/4" and is marked on the back. The frame is 3-1/4" wide and measures overall 14" x 19-3/4". There are two printed papers attached to the back, each depicting a framed painting of the Marquis Francois de Scepeaux, 1566 painted by Francois Clouet (1522-1572) in a frame that appears to be the exact pattern of this frame. One of the pages is from a museum catalog and the other from a magazine article, both picturing the piece. Both refer to a lecture given by Jean Easter, a historical frame specialist.

An enameled porcelain relief plaque depicting Cupid chasing a dove inside a black oval shape, surrounded by a French blue background decorated with vines and flowers also in relief, approx. 6-1/4" x 3-1/2", framed in a gilt frame and countersunk into an emerald green velvet mat, overall approx. 11-1/2" x 8-1/2". No marks were found on the verso of the plaque, which is partially covered by glued-on fabric.

A pair of Royal Worcester vases in white porcelain hand decorated with gilt designs, each with two handles and an applied bocage set in a basked with a gilt ribbon above. Each vase measures 12-1/4"H and is marked on the underside. Interestingly, the ribbed lip of one of the vases is entirely in gilt and the other is picked out in gilt along the ridges.
