1180. A Small Mahogany Veneered Chest

A small storage chest with mahogany veneers, with two small drawers at either side of the top, each with a ring pull, and with two doors over the compartment below with one shelf. The fronts of the doors are decorated to simulate tambour doors. There is a shaped apron with an applied brass classical detail, and the chest sits up on four legs; the front legs in a squared tapering shape and the back legs in a bracket shape. It has canted corners at the front. Overall it measures 36-1/2" x 21-1/4" x 36-3/4"H. The lock escutcheon and the key are missing. It may be that the original configuration of the cabinet had a lift-up top with a central open area. The center front of the veneer has a fill where a keyhole would have been.
