1142. A Group of Three American Verlys Glass Pieces

A Chinese style, mold blown glass console bowl with arabesque border, with Greek key footed base and cornflower motif. Clear glass with frosted exterior. Signed on the base. Approx. 4-3/8"T x 10-1/8"L x 6-1/8"W. "Thistle", ca. 1935-51. A mold blown clear glass bowl with frosted exterior, approx. 8-1/2"D. Signed. A Matching Chinese style octagonal clear glass, mold blown dish, raised on small feet, approx. 7-1/8"D x 4-1/4"T. Signed.

Verlys art glass, produced in France after 1931 by the Holophane Company of Verlys, was made in crystal with acid-finished relief work in the Art Deco style. In 1935 an American branch was opened in Newark, Ohio, where very similar wares were produced until 1951. American Verlys was signed "Verlys" with a diamond-tipped pen or impressed in the mold.
