| 356. A Fariniere, or Flour Box, French, ca. 18th Century
Carved wall mounted box with sliding panel front. Raised on small cabriole feet and with high crested top with finials. Approx. 23" x 9-3/4"W x 4-1/2"D. This decorative and practical flour box was used for flouring fish, in which the box would be removed from the wall and set flat on a table; the panel slide off and the fish floured within the box. 800/1,200 back to catalog |
