352. Signed Henry Dasson Gilt Bronze Bras De Lumieres, Mid-19th Century

Signed at base edge "Henry Dasson & Cie", heavy gilt bronze, four lights each with wax drip inserts. Approx. 21-3/4"T x 15"W. Henry Dasson (1825-1896) is known as one of the finest makers of gilt bronze in the nineteenth century. With a workshop established at 106 rue Vieille-du-Temple, Paris, he specialised predominantly in the production furniture using the very finest ormolu mounts with high quality mercurial gilding. In 1871, he purchased the flourishing business and remaining stock of Charles-Guillaume Winckelsen, who had established a reputation for furniture of the highest quality. Dasson inherited the craft of 'ciseleur' from Winckelsen. Dasson closed down his business in 1894, after which there was a large auction.
