304. Joseph Nash (British, 1908-1978)

"Lympke Hall". Watercolor on paper, matted and framed under glass, no signature found, the image size approx. 12-3/4" x 18-3/4", and with the framing overall approx. 21-3/4" x 27-1/8". The title is written in the lower left margin under the matting in pencil. There is a label on the back of the framing from the Webb C. Ball Company. (IS)

English artist Joseph Nash (1808-1878), elected to the Old Water Colour Society of England in 1842, was a draftsman, architect, watercolor painter, engraver, and lithographer. Between 1839 and 1849, Nash published Mansions of England in the Olden Time, a collection of 100 large lithographs with exteriors and interiors of prominent medieval castles and homes; this watercolor was included.
