1. Studio of Jean Marc Nattier (French, 1685-1776) Portrait of a beautiful lady holding a mask. Oil on canvas, approx. 24" x 20" canvas size, framed in an ornate gilt frame with pierce work, overall approx. 31" x 28-1/4". The demure young woman is dressed for a "bal masque" with an elaborate gown and turban with a black plume at the top. There are indications to the left side of the composition of an architectural element, though the background is mainly dark. The face and hands are particularly sensitively painted.
