Portrait of a beautiful lady holding a mask. Oil on canvas, approx. 24" x 20" canvas size, framed in an ornate gilt frame with pierce work, overall approx. 31" x 28-1/4". The demure young woman is dressed for a "bal masque" with an elaborate gown and turban with a black plume at the top. There are indications to the left side of the composition of an architectural element, though the background is mainly dark. The face and hands are particularly sensitively painted. There was no signature found, though it can be assumed that the canvas was cut down at some point in the past.

Lot and two of his daughters are seen in the foreground; he sipping from a bowl and the pair tempting him with more wine. Sodom burns in the distance. A fine interpretation of an Italian baroque painting.

With a central figure in flowing pink classical garb, the scene depicts several maidens on the rocky shore above a cove. There is a great deal of energy created by the movement in the composition, in the posture of the figures as well as the billowing dress.
